Using Template Projects

The following video illustrates creating a project by dragging the Gantt chart of a template project onto the schedule.

A new house of type T 80 is to be build with completion no later than week 10.

A type T 80 project template is dragged onto the schedule. We have grabbed the template in its "Electrician" activity, as it is one of the latest to be finished.

As we drag the template along the plan, we monitor how well it fits into the plan. (You can let Multi·Project·Planner do the monitoring. See Just in Time scheduling).

Finally at week 9 we seem to have a fit with a minimum set of conflicts. So we'll force the template down here and then handle the hot potatoes created.

In this example we'll handle the hot potato int the carpenter row and let the Electrician's hot potato stay, to be solved at another time.

Finaly we'll do an automatic allocation, to see wether or not we have got the power to man the capacity.

A red triangular flag was raised at the carpenter activity, indicating problems with the timing.
